Job summary

Vast is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and manage the IT backbone for space-grade systems from its Long Beach location. You will architect cloud-first infrastructure in AWS, Kubernetes, and hybrid environments and drive automation using Terraform, Ansible, and related tools.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, security, and reliability, with opportunities to scale critical mission systems while collaborating with cross-functional partners on ambitious space

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years designing and managing enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, GitOps, Ansible, Puppet).

Responsibilities

• Independently design, build, and maintain complex, highly available, secure, and cost-optimized systems in AWS, Kubernetes, and Linux/Windows server environments.
• Write high-quality infrastructure-as-code and automations to improve reliability and maintainability.
• Act as technical lead for infrastructure projects—set roadmap, milestones, and coordinate team work.
• Provide timely support and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
