Vast, a leader in next-generation space stations, seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Mission Software in Long Beach, CA. You will design, implement, and maintain data-intensive full-stack applications across heterogeneous environments, collaborating with aerospace and tech professionals.

The role offers mentorship from seasoned engineers, opportunities to work on web frontends and backends, and exposure to cutting-edge space hardware systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or related engineering discipline.
• 6+ years of software development or relevant industry experience.
• Experience building, shipping, and supporting complex, data-intensive full-stack software applications.
• Experience with ambiguous problems and fast iteration.
• Production DevOps experience (Docker and Kubernetes preferred).
• Experience with time-series data and databases.
• Experience with API design.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement web applications using modern frontends and application servers.
• Design and implement backends including data modeling, APIs, and pipelines.
• Rapidly iterate on tooling and design new applications as the company grows.
• Influence and adopt scalable software practices and patterns.
