Job summary

Vast, a leader in space infrastructure, seeks a Senior Linux Systems Administrator in Long Beach to design, deploy, and maintain Linux workstations and servers. You will build Puppet manifests, create Ubuntu images, and support developers across Tier 2/3 issues, ensuring secure and scalable operations.

This full-time exempt role offers collaboration across teams, exposure to IAM, LDAP/AD, Terraform, and cloud environments, plus a comprehensive benefits package and equity in a growing space

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu or Debian-based preferred)
• 3+ years of hands-on Puppet in production
• Proficient in Bash or Python
• 2 years experience with Git

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Puppet manifests for system configuration and compliance
• Create and maintain standardized Ubuntu imaging processes
• Troubleshoot advanced system and application issues (Tier 2 & 3)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support workstation improvements and patching
• Assist with automation of infrastructure and deployment tasks using Terraform or similar tools
• Contribute to IAM systems, including LDAP/AD integration
• Assist with support for hardware and software developers
• Document best practices, system configurations, and procedures
