Job summary

APM Terminals seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead and architect enterprise-scale infrastructure in Mobile, Alabama. You will drive modernization across virtualization, compute, storage, backup, and cloud while partnering with stakeholders to enhance reliability and security.

You will mentor engineers, implement IaC, and advance standards, roadmaps, and disaster recovery, ensuring high availability and scalable operations for a global organization.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise virtualization environments, particularly VMware and ideally Nutanix.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and a solid understanding of modern infrastructure architectures.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity principles.
• Experience developing automation solutions, infrastructure standards, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions across virtualization, compute, storage, backup, and cloud environments.
• Lead complex infrastructure projects from planning through implementation, including risk management and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and serve as the final escalation point for critical infrastructure incidents.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, technology roadmaps, and modernization strategies.
• Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to improve scalability, efficiency, and consistency.
• Drive security, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives across infrastructure platforms.
• Mentor infrastructure engineers and promote knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and best practices across the team.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and conduct proof-of-concept activities to assess business value and technical feasibility.
• Lead capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives across infrastructure environments.
• Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.
