Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to build developer tooling that accelerates velocity and reliability across the engineering org. You’ll handle the full lifecycle from local development tools to CI/CD, dynamic testing environments, deployments and releases.

You will work with cloud-native tech, Kubernetes, and Terraform to enable observability for large-scale customers. The role emphasizes collaboration, ownership, and ongoing learning in a remote-friendly setup.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience with one or more backend languages.
• Cloud-native concepts with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes familiarity.
• Deep knowledge of Linux internals, process management, and resource isolation.
• Understanding of OSI model, service meshes, load balancing, and zero‑trust security architectures.
• Experience building distributed systems with CAP trade-offs and tracing.
• Proven ability to own features from development to testing and delivery.
• Analytical debugging and quality with proactive edge-case identification.
• Collaborative communication and code-review participation.
• Willingness to continuously learn and adopt new tools, processes, libraries.
• Interest in AI-native development to improve productivity.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Build: Design and maintain high-scale developer tooling and backend services that improve productivity and reliability across a distributed cloud environment.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure as a first-class citizen using Terraform for deployment and version control.
• Drive Systemic Quality: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the SDLC through architectural changes or tooling.
• Scale & Reliability: Ensure infrastructure remains resilient under massive traffic and optimize for performance and cost.
• Strategic Leadership & Mentorship: Define platform standards and mentor teams to up‑level the organization.
