Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a skilled Software Engineer for automotive infotainment. You will own the end-to-end display and input pipeline, from low-level drivers to OS frameworks, ensuring a fast, visually flawless user experience across vehicles.

The role emphasizes architecture, integration, and optimization of display and input subsystems, with close collaboration to hardware and software teams to meet automotive safety and EMC requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years embedded software or platform engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with Linux, QNX, or Android Automotive OS.
• Familiarity with display and input frameworks (DRM/KMS, SurfaceFlinger, InputManager).
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI DSI peripherals.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with Hardware, UI/UX, and System teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate display drivers and compositor frameworks.
• Integrate drivers for touch panels and input devices.
• Optimize frame rates and input latency for a smooth UX.
• Bring up display panels via MIPI DSI, I2C, SPI with hardware partners.
• Debug display/input issues using profilers, gdb, JTAG and tracing tools.
• Collaborate with HW, UI/UX, and System teams on safety and EMC.
