Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies in California seeks a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to advance the software stack for EV infotainment and ECUs. You’ll work on board bring-up, Linux drivers, and cross-functional integration with hardware teams.

You'll design validation strategies, tackle complex debugging, and collaborate with OEMs and software architects to deliver reliable, software-defined vehicle systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years' experience in Embedded Software Development.
• Strong hands-on experience with high-performance SoCs such as Snapdragon, NVIDIA Orin, MediaTek, or similar platforms.
• Proficient in Embedded Linux, QNX, DriveOS, and hypervisor-based systems (e.g., Type-1 hypervisors, Gunyah, ACRN).
• Experience with Automotive Infotainment/Connectivity platforms and subsystems like Camera/Display, Memory/Storage, GNSS, UWB, RF, A2B, BT Audio.
• Good coding skills on C/C++ and Linux kernel driver interfaces.
• Strong BSP and kernel bring-up expertise (Linux, U-Boot).
• Excellent debugging and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Board bring-up, verification and debugging of automotive electronics.
• Linux build systems, device trees, and kernel driver development experience.
• Communicate crisply with peers, stakeholders, customers, and OEMs/ODMs.
• Develop and execute validation strategies including stress testing and benchmarking of ECU subsystems.
• Collaborate with hardware, validation, and software teams to ensure ECU integration and delivery of high-quality products.
• Troubleshoot and debug software/hardware issues at ECU level across organizations.
• Create and maintain documentation for software designs, APIs, and test procedures.
