Job summary

Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Platform Engineer to own the Android-based infotainment display stack and ensure high-performance, stable graphics across multiple in-vehicle displays.

You will collaborate with SoC vendors and cross-functional teams to bring up new panels, optimize rendering, and debug 60FPS+ issues while aligning with automotive platforms and non-Android stacks.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS, EE or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in embedded software or platform engineering.
• Strong C/C++ with Java/Kotlin familiarity for Android debugging.
• Deep understanding of Android display architecture and SurfaceFlinger.
• Experience with HWC/Gralloc and AIDL/HIDL interfaces.
• Solid Linux internals, memory management, and multi-threading.
• Hands-on with automotive infotainment SoCs and non-Android stacks (OpenWF, Wayland).
• Version control with Git.

Responsibilities

• Own the display pipeline across Android and non-Android platforms.
• Engineer multi-display architectures including IVI and instrument clusters.
• Collaborate with SoC vendors to bring up displays and validate panels.
• Optimize graphics performance for 60FPS+ with low latency.
• Integrate display drivers with Android framework to kernel.
• Resolve stability issues: black screens, artifacts, ANRs.
• Develop features like dynamic resolution switching and content mirroring.
• Work with Hardware, Kernel and HMI teams on cross-layer needs.
