Job summary

Rivian VW Group Technologies seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture of the in-vehicle video pipeline. You will own from camera sensors through display, defining directions for low-latency, high-throughput multimedia on embedded hardware.

Qualifications

• Expert proficiency in modern C++ on Linux/embedded systems with real-time constraints.
• Hands-on experience building production video pipelines (camera capture, ISP, codecs).
• GStreamer and FFmpeg, plus Linux graphics/memory primitives (DMA-BUF, DRM/KMS).
• Experience leading architecture for complex multimedia systems and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the architecture of the camera-to-display pipeline with low latency.
• Develop hardware-accelerated codecs and streaming features (H.264/H.265/AV1, RTSP/RTP/WebRTC).
• Optimize pipelines across CPU, GPU, VPU, ISP and DSP with zero-copy paths and power awareness.
• Integrate multimedia stack with OS, display server, CV/AI, and telematics.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and cross-team alignment on interfaces.
• Collaborate with product, hardware, perception and platform teams on new features.
• Establish video quality metrics and telemetry to detect frame drops and sync issues.
• Prototype new designs to solve latency, bandwidth and image-quality challenges.
