Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) invites applications for a Senior Information Technology Manager (Digital Transformation) in the Information Technology Office. This role leads planning, deployment and ongoing optimization of AI platforms and related services, with a focus on automation, data security and scalable systems across campus.

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related disciplines.
• Substantial knowledge and experience in designing, developing, integrating and supporting AI-enabled applications and automation solutions.
• Experience in integrating AI platforms/tools, application APIs and internal/external systems to automate processes.
• Hands-on experience implementing AI workflows, agent systems, admission/applicant websites and student self-service portals, preferably with managerial experience in tertiary institutions.
• Solid and extensive experience in cloud platform administration and configuration.
• Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging AI, cloud and application technologies.
• Proven ability to collaborate with IT/IS teams, vendors, and user departments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for planning, implementation and maintenance of the University’s AI platforms and related services and applications.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing leadership for the planning, implementation and maintenance of the University’s AI Platforms and related services and applications;

• Overseeing AI system development, integration, data security and process automation to ensure efficient and effective operations across academic schools and administrative offices;

• Collaborating with stakeholders to analyse needs and translate them into system requirements that meet the current and future needs of the University;

• Organising AI training sessions and promoting AI tools/solutions to students, administrative staff, academic staff and researcher to support AI in teaching and learning, research, administrative operations;

• Supervising an information system team to develop, enhance and maintain University’s AI platforms, AI tools, AI-enabled applications and automation solutions; and

• Performing any other duties as assigned.

Candidates

• A recognised degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related disciplines;

• Substantial knowledge and experience in designing, developing, integrating and supporting AI-enabled applications and automation solutions to enhance the new Student Administration System and other University operations and services;

• Experience in integrating AI platforms/tools, application APIs and internal/external systems to automate processes, improve service efficiency and support University operational needs;

• Hands‑on experience in the implementing AI workflows, AI agent systems, admission/applicant websites and student self‑service portal, preferably with managerial experience in tertiary institutions;

• Solid and extensive experience in cloud platform administration and configuration is desirable;

• Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging AI, agentic, cloud and application technologies to meet University initiatives;

• Proven ability to collaborate with other IT/IS teams, vendors, systems implementers and user departments; and

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficient in both English & Chinese.
