Responsibilities

This position offers the opportunity to lead and support mechanical engineering projects for metals manufacturing and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engineering solutions, overseeing capital equipment design and specifications, and managing projects from initial investigation through implementation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial mechanical engineering, particularly within the aluminum, steel, or titanium industries. This individual must demonstrate strong technical expertise, proficiency in AutoCAD, and the ability to independently manage engineering assignments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical engineering projects for metals and industrial manufacturing facilities.
• Develop engineering designs, specifications, and technical documentation for industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
• Support the design, specification, fabrication, and procurement of capital equipment.
• Provide mechanical engineering expertise in machine design, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial ventilation, dust collection, process piping, and combustion systems.
• Develop practical engineering solutions for aluminum, steel, titanium, and other metals manufacturing processes.
• Utilize AutoCAD to develop and modify mechanical engineering drawings.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards.
• Conduct onsite field surveys to evaluate existing mechanical systems, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Manage engineering assignments from initial investigation through design and implementation.
• Support project planning, technical coordination, and equipment selection.
• Maintain project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
• Provide technical recommendations and engineering support throughout project execution.
• Work independently while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Support additional project hours when necessary to meet client deadlines.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the design, specification, fabrication, and procurement of capital equipment for the metals industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of current mechanical engineering codes and industry standards.
• Mechanical engineering design experience in areas such as:
• Industrial machine design.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Dust collection and industrial ventilation.
• Industrial/process piping and pipe supports.
• Combustion systems.
• Experience with metals manufacturing processes, including one or more of the following:
• Aluminum: Melting, holding, casting, scalping, hot/cold rolling, extrusion, leveling, heat treating, or slitting.
• Steel and Titanium: Electric arc furnace melting, AOD/VD, continuous casting, ingot casting, hot/cold rolling, leveling, or heat treating.
• Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM).
• Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR).
• Electroslag Remelting (ESR).
• Experience conducting onsite surveys of industrial mechanical systems and equipment.
• Strong technical judgment, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to independently manage assignments while meeting established budgets and deadlines.
• Willingness to work additional hours as needed to accommodate project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Experience performing pipe stress calculations and analysis using engineering software.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
