Position Overview

Carpenter Technology Corporation, a leader in specialty alloys, seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Technician to support the Reading, PA facility.

Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Industrial Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems within the mill, serving as a working lead on the shop floor. Responsibilities include:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy industrial equipment.
• Execute maintenance activities while meeting highest standards and work management processes.
• Coach and mentor other craft personnel.
• Support Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Planner.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as qualified craft personnel in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in steel, metal, or manufacturing industries.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent technical and operational knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment and systems.
• Knowledgeable in TPM/LEAN preferred.
• Strong continuous improvement and project/program management skills.
• Proactive problem‑solving skills with ability to recommend and implement solutions.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Ability to operate independently, multi‑task and prioritize quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• SAP experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of OSHA, NFPA, and other safety standards.
• Ability to meet safety requirements including ANSI fall protection expectations.
