Job summary

Carpenter Technology seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to provide mechanical support for maintenance, engineering and production in a lean manufacturing setting. You will troubleshoot, startup, commission and maintain plant assets, focusing on safety, reliability and cost efficiency.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED and an AS in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent experience; at least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education requirements include a HS diploma or GED; AS degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and P&IDs; basic welding and pipefitting skills.

Job description

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician provides mechanical support for maintenance, engineering, and production. Support includes troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of the plant assets, focusing on safe, reliable, and cost-effective production in a lean manufacturing environment. Provide mechanical support including design, modification, adaptation, installation, problem solving, and troubleshooting on various equipment in conjunction with electrical personnel. Will direct and or perform in various maintenance tasks both safely and efficiently. Responsible to assist other production team employees about specific equipment and processes. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate (AS) degree in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance or relevant field, or an equivalent number of years of education and relevant maintenance experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Demonstrated precision maintenance skills relating to general rotating machinery installation and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and P&IDs. Hydraulic system maintenance and repair or similar lubrication system experience. Basic welding and pipefitting expertise.

Knowledge: Business/Functional Expertise: Understands the key business drivers; uses this knowledge in own work. Expands fundamental knowledge in own function and broadens skills.

Project Management: Accountable for technical contribution to a project team or sub-team. Works with others to achieve team goals through expanded knowledge and skills within own function. May be accountable for subsets for project deliverables. Has no formal role in managing projects.

Financial Management: Aware of costs and assists in controlling costs related to own work.
