Job summary

W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company in Birmingham, Alabama seeks an Estimator III to support our Industrial Division. The role focuses on senior cost estimation for power generation projects and utility-scale installations, including takeoffs, labor productivity analysis, and bid packaging.

You will use Timberline (Sage Estimating) or MC2/WinEst, planTakeoff tools, and Primavera P6 to build accurate estimates and collaborate with project managers, schedulers, and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of technical education and hands‑on heavy industrial field experience.
• 7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in cost estimating for heavy industrial construction, with a strong focus on Power Generation and Cogeneration facilities.
• Demonstrated track record of estimating major power projects ranging from $5M to $100M+ in capital value.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed multi-discipline estimates for industrial power projects (lump-sum, unit-price, EPC, GMP).
• Quantify and price heavy mechanical equipment installation.
• Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analysis for BOP systems, heavy structural steel, process piping, foundations, and E&I.
• Analyze drawings, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, specs, datasheets, and owner solicitations.
