Job summary

Yates Construction in Birmingham, Alabama seeks an Estimator III to lead technical cost estimates for industrial power generation projects. You will perform detailed takeoffs, analyze P&IDs, specs, and owner solicitations, and drive bid packages with subcontractors and vendors.

The role requires deep expertise with Timberline and 3D takeoff software, strong labor productivity analysis, and freight/ equipment sourcing. Base office location is Birmingham with regional site travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/construction field.
7–10+ years of progressive cost estimating experience in heavy industrial construction.
Experience estimating power generation and cogeneration projects.
Track record of $5M–$100M+ capital projects.
Proficiency with Timberline or similar estimating software.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate, detailed multi-discipline estimates (lump-sum, unit-price, EPC, GMP, conceptual budgets).
Quantify and price heavy mechanical equipment installation and BOP systems.
Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analysis for piping, steel, foundations, E&I.
Analyze drawings, P&IDs, specs, equipment datasheets, owner solicitations.
Develop scopes for subcontractors and evaluate quotes for alignment and price.
Collaborate with PMs, schedulers, safety, and engineering to align assumptions.
