Job summary

General Motors in Spring Hill, TN seeks an experienced Manufacturing Controls Engineer to own automation and controls in a high-volume plant. You will apply advanced controls, electrical, networking, and problem-solving expertise to maintain safe, reliable production while driving improvements in quality, cost, delivery, and throughput.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in industrial automation or plant-floor systems.
• Ability to own complex controls problems and lead projects to completion.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and schematics reading skills.
• Strong programming, analytical, communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced production environment and lead across functions.

Responsibilities

• Own controls performance, reliability, and health of assigned processes and equipment.
• Lead diagnosis, containment, root cause analysis and permanent resolution of production issues.
• Lead controls design and execution for new equipment and process changes from concept to buyoff.
• Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, contractors, and suppliers; drive deliverables to closure.
• Apply GM controls, electrical, network, safety, cybersecurity, and software standards to new and legacy equipment.
• Integrate new technologies into existing architectures while maintaining uptime.
• Use data-driven methods to improve OEE, downtime, cycle time, quality, and safety.
• Develop standard work, training materials, and documentation to improve repeatability.
• Mentor engineers and cross-functional partners on controls best practices.
• Provide production support across shifts, including off-shift and major repairs.
