Job summary
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Principal Industrial Automation and Controls Engineer, onsite in Pueblo, CO. You will define standards, resolve complex automation challenges, and drive the technical direction for automation across rocket motor production and energetic materials manufacturing.
The role requires deep PLC, robotics, NEC/UL508A expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to improve safety, yield, and quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years in automation OR Master’s with 8+ years OR 14 years of hands-on experience in lieu of degree.
- Expert in PLC ladder logic, structured text, function block across multiple vendors.
- Experience designing/commissioning robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Establish automation standards and guidelines; mentor engineers.
- Lead design, programming, commissioning of PLC-based systems and robotic integration.
- Define automation technology roadmap; evaluate machine vision, ML-driven optimization.
- Design electrical cabinets and NEC/UL508A-compliant systems; manage field wiring.
- Design plant networking, data architecture for SPC and optimization.
- Develop user-friendly HMI/SCADA systems; maintain schematics and BOMs.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Safety, Compliance to embed best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to elevate engineering rigor.
