Job summary
Voyager Technologies in Pueblo, CO seeks a Principal Industrial Automation and Controls Engineer to lead automation standards and servo the production technology direction on solid rocket motor projects.
The role requires deep PLC/robotics expertise, NEC/UL compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing and Safety teams to improve safety, yield, and process control through advanced automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in an engineering discipline with extensive automation experience.
- Authority in PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks across multiple vendors.
- Experience designing, integrating, and commissioning robotic systems in manufacturing.
- Deep knowledge of NEC and UL508A, hazardous area classifications, and field wiring.
- Strong data/networking skills, SCADA/HMI development, and SPC applications.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a principal technical authority on automation and controls standards.
- Lead design, programming, commissioning of PLCs and robotics across platforms.
- Define automation roadmaps, evaluate machine vision and robotics for optimization.
- Design electrical cabinets, NEC/UL compliances, and field wiring to standards.
- Create plant networking and data architectures for SPC and optimization.
- Develop HMI/SCADA with user-friendly interfaces and clear docs.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Safety, and Compliance teams across lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and engineering rigor.
