Job summary

Astronics AES is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design of in-seat power supplies and USB outlet units for commercial aircraft. You will guide the electrical team through certification, applying resonant converter topologies and digital control techniques.

The role requires strong technical leadership, mentoring, and presentation skills, with DO-160, Airbus, and Boeing standards guiding development and certification efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, with power supply/power conversion
• Experience designing to DO-160 and aerospace specs (Airbus/Boeing)
• Proven ability to generate high-quality technical documents and lead teams

Responsibilities

• Lead design of aerospace-grade power supplies and USB outlets from concept through certification.
• Translate requirements into robust architectures and detailed designs.
• Plan and execute R&D to advance power supply capabilities and evaluate new topologies.
• Mentor the EE team and present analyses in design reviews.
• Coordinate with systems, compliance, and test teams for certification and verification.
