Job summary

WCL Group is seeking an Import Compliance Analyst in Houston, TX to ensure adherence to local customs and import laws. The role requires guiding business units on compliance processes, coordinating with brokers, and supporting audit responses.

This is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion, onsite at our Houston location. The ideal candidate will have extensive import compliance experience, HTS expertise, and familiarity with FTAs, CTPAT, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ years of import compliance experience with consumption entries.
• HTS classification skills (intermediate to advanced).
• Temporary Imports and other special import programs experience.
• Advanced Free Trade Agreement qualification reviews.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and applying them to business transactions.
• Experience in the energy industry or regulated environments.
• Experience analyzing data, preparing presentations, coordinating projects, or supporting process improvements.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and analysis.
• Strong communication skills for audiences from staff to counsel and leadership.
• Proven leadership and project management; ability to influence without direct reporting.
• Collaborative cross-functional team player across departments.
• Growth mindset and learning agility to evolving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for guidance on customs procedures, import law compliance, and tariff impacts.
• Coordinate with brokers for FTAs, HTS classifications, valuations, duty drawbacks, and origin verifications.
• Perform FTA product qualification analysis for chemical products.
• Assist counsel in coordinating with brokers and responding to inquiries, seizures, or audits.
• Support CTPAT security and trade compliance through internal coordination.
• Draft and implement compliance procedures with the team.
• Deliver training and presentations to business units and leadership.
• Monitor for potential violations and escalate with counsel as needed.
• Leverage AI tools to drive process improvements.
