Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking an IRL Technologist to perform basic and advanced donor and patient tests, interpret results to determine donor-recipient compatibility. You will resolve compatibility issues and assist in the daily workflow of both patient and donor testing, while maintaining thorough records.

Requirements include a Biological Science or Chemistry degree with MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certification and at least 4 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry with MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
• Licensure if required by state.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Consult and communicate with staff at other medical facilities to resolve complex serologic problems.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples.
• Assist in daily workflow of patient and donor work and document supply and equipment problems.
• Perform and interpret basic and complex donor and/or patient testing procedures and quality control.
• Maintain and review records accurately and legibly.
• Lead responsibilities such as record review and training.
