Job summary

The American Red Cross in Tucson, AZ is seeking an IRL Technologist to perform donor and patient tests, interpret results, and determine donor–recipient compatibility.

You will resolve compatibility issues, conduct automated and manual tests, manage specimen logistics, and maintain reagent inventory. Qualifications include MT (ASCP) certification, biology/chemistry degree, at least one year of related experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• MT (ASCP) certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience or equivalent.
• Licensure if required by state.
• Good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Resolve compatibility problems; provide reference and consultation to hospitals.
• Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of patient and donor samples; document issues.
• Manage reagent inventory (ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation).
• Recognize/resolving testing irregularities; assist other Medical Technologists in problem resolution.
• Consult with staff at other facilities to resolve complex serologic problems and provide special units.
• Perform manufacturing duties with special blood products, if applicable.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
