The American Red Cross in Kansas City is seeking a qualified IRL Technologist to perform donor and patient tests, interpret results, and determine donor-recipient compatibility. You will resolve compatibility problems and provide reference and consultation to hospitals and transfusion services in a collaborative team.

This role requires MT(ASCP) and a Bachelor\'s in biological science or chemistry, 3+ years of related experience (or equivalent), with MLT (ASCP) substitution possible and state

Qualifications

• MT(ASCP) certification and a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or chemistry.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• MLT (ASCP) certification with 5 years of blood banking experience can be substituted.
• State license may be required where applicable.
• Skills & Abilities: Good written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.

Responsabilités

• Resolving compatibility problems and providing complex reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services.
• Performing automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Managing receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of patient and donor blood samples and documenting supply and equipment problems.
• Managing reagent inventory (ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation).
• Recognizing/resolving testing irregularities and assisting other Medical Technologists in problem resolution.
• Consulting with staff at other medical facilities to resolve complex serologic problems and providing special units to transfusion recipients.
• Performing manufacturing duties associated with special blood products, if applicable.
• Must be able to work on a team.
