Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking an IRL Technician to join our Immunohematology Reference Lab in St. Louis. You will perform basic donor and patient testing, interpret results, and may provide reference services to hospitals.

A strong background in blood banking and MLT ASCP certification is required. Responsibilities include coordinating specimen handling, performing tests, maintaining records, and contributing to quality control in a compliant lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry.
• 1 year of blood banking experience.
• MLT (ASCP) certification.
• Licensure if required by state.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic understanding of computer applications including Word.
• Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic donor testing and/or patient testing and interpret results.
• Provide basic reference and consultation services to hospitals as needed.
• Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Maintain, edit and review computer and manual records for accurate record keeping.
• Maintain equipment, reagents and stock to ensure quality control of procedures.
