Job summary

Local Progress is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney to provide legal, policy, and research support to local elected officials across geographies, with particular emphasis on immigrant justice, economic justice, and housing justice.

The Senior Staff Attorney will lead strategic initiatives and collaborate with national, state, and local partners to advance immigrant inclusion and protect communities from federal attacks.

Qualifications

• JD and admission to a state bar.
• At least 9 years of policy or legal experience, with at least 4 years on immigrant justice issues.
• Experience with organizing and campaigns, including working with organizers or movement lawyering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce, edit, and review legal memos, amicus briefs, and other legal documents; manage and oversee production by partners.
• Lead development of policy resources, briefs, toolkits, resolutions, and training curricula.
• Engage with staff, members, and partners to advise on policy/legal questions and perform research.
