Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to drive reliability and scalability of our global network infrastructure.

You will partner with software, operations and network teams to set standards, build automation, and influence designs across the product lifecycle. Ideal candidates have extensive distributed systems experience, strong Linux networking knowledge, and a track record in CI/CD and code quality leadership.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of experience in reliability, network engineering, software engineering or DevOps with distributed systems.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, or Puppet.
• Strong understanding of Linux networking and open source software like FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI models, and routing/switching (Cisco/Juniper).
• Experience in development with Python, Bash, or Go and in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD).
• Proven ability to define product requirements and influence designs and standards.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and usability of network infrastructure and services.
• Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence designs and standards.
• Develop automation to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure for high availability.
• Collaborate with Dev and QA to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality and architectural decisions.
