Job summary

EarnIn is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to define and evolve the Identity & Trust platform across its consumer and enterprise ecosystem. You will lead architecture, security, and compliance efforts, guiding multi-team initiatives and establishing scalable patterns for authentication, authorization, and identity verification.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with progression into Staff/Senior Staff leadership.
• ,
• Proven track record defining and executing technical strategy for large-scale distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead architecture across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Hands-on experience building secure, highly available backend systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in identity, trust, security, privacy, or regulated-data systems.
• Strong knowledge of authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, MFA).
• Experience with identity platforms such as Okta, Auth0, Keycloak, or similar.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Go, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven architectures.
• Operational experience (SLOs, observability, incident response, disaster recovery).
• Mentoring senior technical talent and driving leverage across engineering.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong collaboration with product, security, compliance.
• FinTech or regulated industries experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for Identity & Trust.
• Lead high-impact initiatives spanning multiple services and teams from definition to operation.
• Design highly available distributed systems and APIs with security, privacy, and reliability focus.
• Architect OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, MFA, and identity federation solutions.
• Create reusable architecture patterns, APIs, and platform primitives for safe product consumption.
• Set reliability, observability, SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Advance AI-powered engineering with guardrails for security and correctness.
• Mentor senior engineers and drive cross-team technical direction.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, Risk, Data Science, Design, Compliance and execs to translate needs into durable tech strategies.
