Job summary

O’Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Senior System Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure with a primary focus on the IBM i platform. You will partner with IT and business teams to evaluate requirements, develop scalable solutions, and ensure peak system performance.

The role acts as a technical SME, resolves complex issues, and drives modernization and security across enterprise environments. Strong collaboration, documentation, and continuous improvement are essential.

Qualifications

IBM i platform experience required.
Ability to gather and document technical requirements.
Design, implement, and document infrastructure solutions.
Develop tests to validate infrastructure before deployment.
Implement security controls and ensure compliance.
Coordinate with vendors for issue resolution and maintenance.
Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to the team.

Responsibilities

Design and support enterprise infrastructure with a focus on IBM i.
Analyze requirements and translate into scalable infrastructure plans.
Evaluate current environments and propose future-state architectures.
Monitor systems and identify risks, capacity needs, and optimization opportunities.
Troubleshoot complex issues and serve as escalation point.
Coordinate with vendors for issue resolution and maintenance.
Provide technical training and guidance to peers and users.
Participate in on-call support for critical incidents.
Evaluate new technologies to improve capabilities.
