Job summary

HUB International is seeking an experienced Application Developer to support and modernize critical enterprise applications. You will work with AS/400 (IBM i) using RPGLE, drive modernization with VS Code and Git/GitHub, and handle database work with MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress.

You will gather user requirements, provide technical solutions, and troubleshoot issues in Linux environments while documenting specifications and maintaining code repositories.

Qualifications

• Strong AS/400 (IBM i) and RPGLE programming skills.
• Strong SQL knowledge incl. optimization, stored procedures, and database design.
• Experience with MS-Access database development and management.
• Working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
• Hands-on experience with OpenEdge Progress database and 4GL.
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for business users.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications on AS/400 (IBM i) using RPGLE.
• Champion modernization: VS Code, Code for IBM i, and Git/GitHub integration for version control.
• Develop and support database solutions with MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress.
• Create and maintain Visual Basic applications and integrations.
• Gather requirements from business users and provide technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
• Perform Linux system administration tasks.
• Document technical specifications and maintain code repositories.
