Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer with deep IBM i expertise to lead modernization and API development for mission-critical applications. The role focuses on RPG modernization, AI assisted software engineering, and technical leadership across teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of IBM i development, strong RPG/DB2 for i skills, and experience with AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery. This is a full-time on-site role with CVS Health benefits.

Qualifications

5+ years of IBM i application development experience.
Expert level proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CLLE, DB2 for i, and Embedded SQL.
Experience designing and developing APIs, web services, and enterprise integrations.
Strong understanding of architecture, design patterns and software engineering best practices.
Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.
Hands on experience utilizing AI powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
Experience building, implementing, or leveraging AI agents to improve software development, testing, documentation, and engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance IBM i enterprise applications.
Lead modernization of legacy IBM i applications through modular architecture, APIs and modern practices.
Develop APIs, web services, and integrations with IBM i.
Mentor engineers and establish coding standards and best practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable technology solutions.
Evaluate AI tools and implement AI-powered development workflows.
