Job summary

NRG Energy, Inc. in Houston seeks a Journeyman I&C Technician to support maintenance for boilers, turbines, generators, and control systems.

You will install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot instrumentation, read P&ID’s, and mentor apprentice technicians while documenting work. The role requires 5–7 years of power plant I&C experience, strong electrical knowledge, and a commitment to safety and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications

Journeyman I&C Technician
5–7 years of Power Plant I&C experience in electronics, troubleshooting, repair and calibration
Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection and others.
Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, computers, metering, monitoring, and control systems on boilers, turbines, generators and plant auxiliary equipment.
Reads P&ID’s and CWD’s to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems and interlocks.
Uses test equipment and hand tools to troubleshoot and maintain devices and systems for the power plant.
Works with apprentice I&C technicians to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.
Completes all written and electronic records documenting work in progress and completed.
