Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer seeks a Senior Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer to join our Southeast team in Florida, focusing on water and wastewater projects from planning through startup and commissioning. You will lead I&C engineering efforts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

You will mentor junior staff, develop technical specifications, and deliver complete, bid-ready I&C drawings while ensuring quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• 10–15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in I&C, controls, electrical, or industrial processes.
• Experience with instrumentation and control systems in water/wastewater or similar facilities.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70 and related codes.
• Ability to lead technical work and coordinate across design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C studies, prepare technical memoranda and reports.
• Develop and edit I&C drawings: P&IDs, PFDs, control diagrams, wiring details.
• Draft specs for instrumentation, control systems, SCADA, and networks.
• Coordinate I&C designs with process/mechanical/electrical teams.
• Perform QA reviews of calculations, drawings, and specs.
• Support field visits, construction support, and commissioning activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee staff development.
