  • Our work includes planning, design, and oversight of construction of environmental infrastructure – for water, wastewater, and stormwater management.
  • We foster a work environment low on bureaucracy and high in creativity.
  • We recruit talented professionals, provide them with challenging, interesting, and creative assignments, and furnish them with the tools they need to succeed.
  • We currently have over 2,500 employees in 100+ offices throughout the United States, Latin America, Canada, and the UK.
  • A flexible hybrid work schedule supports today's busy professionals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering studies and assessments, prepare associated technical memoranda and reports, including Basis of Design documents, Preliminary Engineering Reports, alternatives evaluations, and other technical deliverables.
  • Lead the development of complete, biddable, cyber-informed and technically accurate instrumentation and control (I&C) drawings, including process and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, control system and network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, installation details, and related drawings.
  • Develop and edit technical specifications for instrumentation and control systems, system integration, SCADA, networking, and related work, and contribute to the development and maintenance of Hazen’s master specifications and standard details.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, client workshops, and project meetings.
  • Coordinate I&C designs across engineering disciplines, including process/mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, and site civil, to provide complete and coordinated design documents.
  • Perform quality control reviews of calculations, drawings, specifications, and other technical deliverables prepared by others, with an emphasis on technical accuracy, constructability, consistency, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Assist with engineering services during construction, including reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information, evaluating field conditions, and preparing field directives and design clarifications.
  • Perform construction-phase field services, including inspection and observation of I&C installations, witnessing equipment and system testing, and evaluating work performed by contractors and system integrators for conformance with the contract documents.
  • Support startup, testing, and commissioning activities, including functional testing of instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, communications networks, and integrated process equipment.
  • Develop and review cost estimates for I&C, control system integration, SCADA, communication networks, and related project work in conjunction with Hazen’s cost estimating group.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, teaming partners, contractors, and system integrators; support business development activities; and develop project scopes, fee estimates, and proposals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, including oversight and review of technical work, guidance on design approaches, and support staff development.
