Job summary

Redtree Engineering seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and develop control systems for distributed generation and district energy projects, including electric, steam, and cogeneration facilities. The role covers front-end design through commissioning, with mentorship from senior leads.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 2–6 years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation system design principles.
• Experience with P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, wiring diagrams, or control system documentation.
• Familiarity with PLC, DCS, SCADA, or industrial automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Support I&C engineering across project phases: front-end design to commissioning.
• Develop control system architecture, I/O lists, narratives, and diagrams for DCS/PLC systems.
• Prepare instrument data sheets, wiring diagrams, and installation details.
• Create wiring/loop diagrams and P&ID coordination with other disciplines.
• Assist with procurement support and vendor submittal reviews.
• Conduct site visits and data collection for new and existing facilities.
