Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead delivery on utility-scale power projects as part of our Energy & Power Solutions team. You will direct the design, specify instrumentation, and shape control system architectures for DCS/SCADA environments.

Requirements include 10+ years in design/consulting, PE eligibility, and proven leadership. The role offers hybrid work across Jacobs offices nationwide and opportunities for client-facing leadership.

Qualifications

10+ years of design, consulting, or operations experience.
Lead multi-person teams of engineers and designers.
Experience with industrial DCS/PLC logic development, graphics, and hardware implementation.
Experience commissioning control systems and solving faults.
PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
Engage with clients, develop relationships and win work.
Mentor junior staff and work independently on diverse tasks.
Strong communication and technical writing skills.
Available to work at least 3 days/week.

Responsibilities

Prepare specifications and drawings; write control system descriptions; perform startup and commissioning activities.
Specify instrumentation (pressure/flow transmitters, switches, valves) for large power projects.
Design DCS/PLC control systems; develop logic, graphics, and sequence of operations.
Design SCADA and OT networks; configure servers, switches, and firewalls.
Collaborate with other disciplines on large design projects to integrate concepts.
Contribute to proposals and client relationship development.
Select and troubleshoot field process instruments.
Display strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Drive health & safety ownership across project execution.
