Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead multi-discipline teams on utility-scale power projects, including simple cycle and combined cycle plants. You will design, specify instrumentation, DCS/PLC controls, SCADA, and OT networks, and collaborate with clients to deliver reliable energy solutions.

The role offers hybrid work across Jacobs offices nationwide in the U.S., with health and welfare benefits, a base salary range of $123,600–$162,300 and PE/licensing path.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in design, consulting, or operations on power projects.
• Ability to lead multi-person teams of engineers and designers.
• Experience with DCS/PLC, SCADA, and network design.
• PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Proven client relationships and business development ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, startup and commissioning.
• Specify instrumentation for large power projects (pressure, flow, valves).
• Knowledge of DCS/PLC, SCADA, and HMI software for control systems.
• Design SCADA and OT networks including DCS, PLCs, servers, switches and firewalls.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate control concepts.
• Contribute to proposals and client relationships, win work.
• Troubleshoot field process instruments.
• Drive health & safety in project execution and site work.
