Job summary

SB Energy seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to serve as the owner-side SME for simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas power projects. You will coordinate I&C design interfaces among OEMs, EPCs, and control system suppliers to ensure safe, reliable operation from design through turnover.

The role requires 7–10+ years in I&C for gas generation, a BS in Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls/Automation, and the ability to travel roughly 25% to project sites in Pike County, Ohio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Controls, Automation or related field.
• 7–10+ years of professional I&C experience in gas-fired power generation.
• Strong knowledge of DCS, PLCs, turbine controls, HMIs, and related systems.
• Experience coordinating interfaces among OEMs, EPCs, and control system suppliers.
• Ability to review control narratives, logic diagrams, P&IDs, and I/O lists.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards in OT.
• Willingness to travel ~25% to project sites (Pike County, Ohio).

Responsibilities

• Lead owner-side I&C engineering oversight for simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas generation projects.
• Review I&C design criteria, specifications, drawings, control narratives, logic diagrams, and equipment selections.
• Coordinate I&C interfaces among gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, generator, and balance-of-plant packages.
• Develop and coordinate procurement specifications and vendor submittals for control systems.
• Support commissioning, testing, and turnover to ensure safety, reliability, and operability.
