Castelion Corporation in Torrance, CA invites a Senior Aerothermal & CFD Engineer to lead CFD and aerothermal analyses for hypersonic vehicle programs. You will develop high-fidelity models and work with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace CFD, expertise in compressible flow and heat transfer, and proficiency with STAR-CCM+, Fluent, FUN3D, CFD++, or US3D.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of CFD and aerothermal analysis experience in aerospace or defense.
• Strong background in compressible flow, hypersonic aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Experience with CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, Fluent, FUN3D, CFD++, US3D or equivalents.
• Experience with turbulence modeling and high-temperature flow physics.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting.
• Familiarity with wind tunnel or arc-jet testing and flight test correlation.

Mansioni

• Perform CFD analyses of hypersonic flight vehicles across Mach numbers and conditions.
• Predict aerodynamic loads, pressures, and heating environments for structures and TPS.
• Analyze shock interactions, boundary layers, and high-temperature flows.
• Develop high-fidelity CFD models for propulsion integration and vehicle trades.
• Collaborate with flight sciences, TPS, structures, propulsion, and GNC teams.
• Correlate CFD with wind tunnel, arc-jet, ground, and flight test data.
• Develop meshing strategies, solvers, and automated CFD workflows.
• Support design reviews with aerodynamic and aerothermal analyses.
