Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior Aerothermal & CFD Engineer to develop CFD and aerothermal solutions for Castelion's hypersonic strike vehicles, from concept through flight test. You will work hands-on with multidisciplinary teams to analyze, model, and validate complex fluid dynamic and aerothermal phenomena in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of CFD and aerothermal analysis experience in aerospace or defense.
• Strong background in compressible flow, hypersonic aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Experience with STAR-CCM+, Fluent, FUN3D, CFD++ or US3D.
• Experience with turbulence modeling and shock-boundary layer interactions.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB scripting.
• Familiarity with wind tunnel, arc-jet, or flight test correlation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform CFD analyses of hypersonic flight vehicles across Mach numbers and flight conditions
• Predict aerodynamic loads, pressure distributions, and surface heating environments for vehicle structures and TPS
• Analyze shock interactions, boundary layer behavior, and high-temperature flow phenomena
• Develop high-fidelity CFD models to support propulsion integration, control surface design, and vehicle trades
• Collaborate with flight sciences, TPS, structures, propulsion, GNC, and manufacturing teams
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in CFD and aerothermal analysis
