Job summary

Flint Hills Resources in Corpus Christi, Texas is seeking a Senior Process Engineer - Hydroprocessing to join the Process Engineering team. The role focuses on optimization, troubleshooting and design improvements for hydroprocessing units within a value‑driven, collaborative environment.

You will lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and work with cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, reliable and cost‑effective refinery solutions at Koch Industries' family of companies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
• Ten or more years of refining or chemical plant process engineering experience.
• Experience with Hydrocracking, Distillate Hydroprocessing, and Naphtha Hydroprocessing units.

Responsibilities

• Building and expanding technical network internally and externally to the company.
• Developing value creation ideas and projects, economic analysis for assigned units and technologies.
• Monitoring long‑term unit performance against industry benchmarks.
• Supporting unit monitoring for Hydroprocessing technologies (Hydrocracker, Distillate Hydroprocessing, Naphtha Hydroprocessing).
• Auditing unit performance reports and long‑term calculations.
• Reviewing and supporting benchmark studies (Solomon).
• Ensuring the technical basis of projects meets business objectives.
• Mentoring and supporting Production Engineers during unit troubleshooting, unit monitoring, PHAs, critical procedures, monthly Business Review meetings.
• Supporting high‑profile unit troubleshooting as needed.
• Directing and assisting Operations for the design of experiments and process guidelines.
• Owning the Process Engineer modeling programs.
• Building out the technology loop model using different software such as HYSYS to drive economic decision‑making in unit operations.
• Supporting other Physics‑based modeling programs.
• Providing turnaround program technical support and technical scoping as needed.
• Contributing to process safety and environmental performance through PHA programs, MOC, investigations team member or leader.
