Job summary

Valero Energy in San Antonio is seeking a Principal Process Engineer – Hydroprocessing. This senior role drives high-impact process improvements, mentors engineers, and provides on-site startup support for critical hydroprocessing units.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, guide catalyst decisions, and help standardize best practices across sites. The position requires a BS in Chemical Engineering, 15 years of refining experience, on-site work, and TWIC credentials or the ability to

Qualifications

BS degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
15 years of process engineering experience in refining, including startup and troubleshooting.
Able to work on-site at Valero San Antonio; travel up to 25% as needed.
TWIC credential holder or ability to obtain one for refinery access.

Responsibilities

Identify and lead high-impact process improvement projects.
Coordinate catalyst and technical work across Operations, Maintenance, and Projects.
Provide on-site startup support for critical units and troubleshoot complex upsets.
Mentor and develop early- and mid-career engineers; share best practices.
