Job summary

Matrix New World Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeling Team Leader to join our Phoenix, AZ team. The role offers full-time status with the option to work from our Phoenix office or remotely, and includes full company benefits.

You will lead technical aspects of groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, manage data acquisition and permitting support, and guide project execution while mentoring junior modelers.

Qualifications

• Education: Geology/Hydrogeology/Environmental Science at bachelor level; master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in groundwater modeling/hydrogeology/water resources.
• Proficiency in MODFLOW family, MT3D, and Vistas or equal tools.
• Strong GIS skills (ArcGIS Pro) and scripting (Fortran, Python).
• Experience leading groundwater projects and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead groundwater flow and solute transport modeling projects from CSM to calibration.
• Manage data analysis, permitting support, and report preparation.
• Oversee budget, proposals, and invoicing for multiple projects.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate day-to-day modeling team activities.
• Interface with clients as Project Manager and Senior Hydrogeologist.
