Matrix New World Engineering in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Groundwater Modeler / Hydrogeologist to join our team. This full-time position offers flexibility to work in our Phoenix office or remotely and provides full company benefits.

The role focuses on groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, supports hydrogeologic investigations for water resources and environmental projects, and requires strong writing and communication skills to prepare technical reports and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 6 years with a Bachelor’s in groundwater modeling, hydrogeology, water resources, or environmental consulting
• Hands-on proficiency with numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling software (MODFLOW, MODPATH, MT3D) and pre-processing tools (Groundwater Vistas)
• Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS Pro) and post-processing tools (Fortran, Python, Grapher, Surfer)
• Groundwater modeling experience in Arizona and arid Southwestern United States
• Strong technical writing and communication skills for reports/deliverables
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects independently or in teams
• Detail-oriented with good data management of model files and datasets
• Familiarity with parameter estimation tools such as PEST
• Advanced data processing skills (Python, R, FORTRAN) and dataset management
• Experience developing Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) and field characterization support

Responsabilités

• Build, calibrate, and apply numerical groundwater flow and solute transport models under senior staff guidance
• Perform sensitivity, uncertainty, and predictive analyses for water resource and remediation modeling projects
• Compile, evaluate, and manage spatial and subsurface datasets to support CSM development
• Assist with regulatory permitting programs (ADEQ APP/AZPDES) and AWS applications
• Assist with AWS advising, aquifer impact analyses
• Support MAR and ASR well development and groundwater mounding studies
• Assist with data collection, aquifer testing analysis, and data interpretation
• Draft technical reports, memos, figures, and appendices for deliverables
• Support Project Managers with cost estimation, proposals, and task management
