Job summary

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join the Resilience Solutions Group in Orlando, Florida. The role focuses on hydraulic modeling, flood risk assessment, and advanced analytics for resilient water resources planning and design.

The successful candidate will lead 1D/2D hydraulic analyses, collaborate with engineers and scientists, and mentor junior staff while advancing probabilistic and risk-informed methodologies in cloud-enabled environments.

Qualifications

BS, MS, or PhD in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience: 5+ years in hydraulic engineering or river modeling; multi-watershed experience.
Proficient with hydraulic modeling software and analytical tools (HEC-RAS, SWMM).
Experience with floodplain mapping, FEMA studies, and regulatory flood risk assessments.
GIS experience with ArcGIS Pro and spatial analysis workflows.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and client engagement skills.
PE license required or in progress.

Responsibilities

Lead or support hydraulic modeling for municipal, state, and federal projects.
Develop innovative flood risk analysis approaches to meet project requirements.
Model riverine systems, floodplains, bridges, and hydraulic structures (1D/2D).
Evaluate river hydraulics, sediment transport, and floodplain dynamics (current and future).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated project delivery.
Present technical findings to clients and stakeholders.
