Job summary

GE Vernova in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, seeks an experienced HVDC Solutions Engineer to oversee technical solutions and lead requirements gathering, design, and implementation of HVDC control and protection systems.

You will mentor engineers, conduct EMT studies in PSCAD/EMTP-RV, simulate with PSSE, PSCAD, and MATLAB/Simulink, and ensure compliance with standards while collaborating with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical solution to meet customer requirements based on reference solutions.
• Lead requirements gathering, system design, implementation and development of HVDC control and protection systems.
• Review and approve technical documents including control and protection settings, manuals, test plans, and test procedures.
• Serve as the primary customer interface for technical discussions, training, and requirements clarification.
• Lead EMT studies using PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and model control/protection functions in MATLAB/Simulink.
• Perform network modelling and verification using PSSE, PSCAD and RSCAD; lead end-to-end validation across platforms.
