Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an experienced HVDC Controls Engineer to oversee the design, analysis, and validation of HVDC control and protection systems. You will lead requirements gathering, system design, and development across multi-disciplinary teams, while serving as the primary technical interface with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related.
• Ten (10) years of experience in HVDC control and protection system design.
• Experience with HVDC Control, Protection, and Sequencing strategies; Dynamic performance studies and system modelling for VSC-HVDC schemes.
• Experience with PSCAD, RSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink; Real-time simulation environments for Hardware-in-the-Loop using OPAL-RT or RTDS.
• Experience with IST, FAT, SAT testing and system integration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical solution ensuring customer requirements are met based on reference solutions.
• Lead requirements gathering, system design, implementation, and development of HVDC control and protection systems.
• Review and approve technical documents including control settings, manuals, and test procedures.
• Serve as primary customer interface for technical discussions, training, and clarification.
• Lead root-cause analysis and mentor junior engineers; drive continuous improvements.
