Medical University of South Carolina seeks an HVAC technician to perform skilled trades in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. The role involves routine repairs, trouble calls, problem analysis, and adherence to EPA regulations.

Incumbents are on call for one week on a rotating schedule and are considered essential personnel in a disaster. The position requires a high school diploma, three years related trade experience, and EPA-approved freon recovery certification.

Qualificações

• Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
• Some positions require a commercial driver's license.
• Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification.
• A valid Driver's Liscense.

Responsabilidades

• 35% - Installs, repairs, inspects HVAC equipment and systems. Works on chillers, cooling towers, DX units, window units, ice machines, motors, controls, etc. Ensures no unauthorized gas releases; follows EPA guidelines.
• 25% - Recharges air conditioning systems with refrigerants; resets systems and checks operation after power loss; calibrates controls.
• 15% - Overhauls compressors and condensers; diagnoses and repairs HVAC/air conditioning/heating issues; uses proper tools and meters.
• 10% - Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown/startup of systems campus-wide.
• 10% - Supervises and instructs mechanics of lower grade; informs supervisor of issues affecting operation.
• 5% - Maintains clean, safe work area and performs related duties.
