Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned HVAC/R Leader to oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of commercial systems. You will diagnose complex issues, supervise field teams, and ensure adherence to OSHA/EPA standards while managing parts and vendor relations.

The role emphasizes hands-on training, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and improve performance across large facilities.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration or 6 years with an AAS
• EPA Type I and Type II or Universal refrigerant handling certification
• HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required
• 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area, or 2 years Walmart store experience
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
• Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years
• Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations within the last three years
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
• No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to lead and mentor field teams and provide hands-on technical training
• Proficiency managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service workloads
• Effective communication and accurate documentation skills
• Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units
• Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to optimize performance and reduce downtime
• Manage refrigerant handling in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations
• Coordinate and mentor field teams, provide hands-on training, and evaluate skill development
• Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service schedules
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical operational needs outside regular hours
• Coordinate service priorities and resolve issues promptly
• Contribute to process improvements and workforce development
• Support business operations and maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards
