Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer – HVAC Performance to join our Electrical team in Plano, Texas. You will apply your expertise to evaluate conformance to standards, guide testing programs, and communicate with clients and regulators.

The role requires 10+ years in HVAC design/testing, strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and willingness to travel up to 25%. You’ll contribute to a broad suite of testing and certification activities across multiple industries.

Qualifications

• HVAC product design and testing experience is required.
• Experience with energy efficiency standards and regulatory landscape.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply UL, CSA, AHRI, ASHRAE, and DOE requirements to equipment under testing.
• Develop and lead HVAC testing, inspection, and certification programs.
• Plan and coordinate project work and keep clients informed.
• Review project files for compliance with procedures.
• Make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently.
• Interact with clients, accreditors, and AHJs to resolve issues.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and collaborate across teams.
