Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer – HVAC Performance in Plano, TX to lead HVAC testing and regulatory conformance efforts. You will support testing programs, interact with clients and accreditors, and supervise junior staff to ensure timely, compliant deliverables.

The role requires deep knowledge of AHRI, ASHRAE, CFR, and DOE standards, plus travel up to 25%. A mechanical engineering background and 10+ years in HVAC are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Eng. with relevant experience acceptable.
• 10+ years in HVAC product design/testing, energy efficiency, and regulatory landscape.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret UL, CSA, AHRI, ASHRAE, and DOE requirements for EUT.
• Develop, lead, and support testing and certification programs.
• Plan and control project progress and keep clients informed.
• Review project files for SOP compliance.
• Make technical decisions on standards interpretation and test programs.
• Interact with clients, accreditors, and AHJs to resolve issues.
• Supervise, train and develop junior staff.
• May serve as technical director for sub-streams or locations.
• Provide input into QA of programs and organize resources efficiently.
